Danny Boy

26Jun08

Dan, an english setter, was one of the most well-behaved dogs I’ve photographed. He’s a hunting dog in the winter and a lap dog in the summer. This is just a sneak peek, check back later for more!

Just a sneak peek at Phoenix, Sam and Hallie’s shoot from this weekend. They are a unique trio!

Phoenix, the young-at-heart golden retriever, was quite regal.

Sam, the terrier mix, was always thinking, you could tell.

And little Hallie, chihuahua, had enough energy for all of us!

Little things

24Jun08

I love finding little things of beauty.

I’m excited to announce that I will have a new blog soon! Can you say LARGE IMAGES? Don’t worry, there will be a link back to this blog. Look for a post soon where I’ll give the new blog’s address. Links will be changed on my portfolio site, as well.

Most of the time during a shoot, I just let it happen. Just let the dog be the dog. This is a technique that calls for patience and quickness at the same time. There’s lots of waiting around, holding the camera ready, and quickly firing off the shutter to get the moment.

Here are some of my favorite “let it happen” shots.

Just look at the madness in her eyes trying to steady that tennis ball.

Kyla’s famous “rub my belly” stance, hard to capture but got lucky.

This was a sweet little “nano-moment” of love between an owner and his dogs.

And little Abby rolling around in the grass like the little blonde tornado that she is.

So this is me. I finally had someone take some quick shots of me to post so this wouldn’t be a faceless blog. They’re not great, but they’re me. See more in the About section.

I liked how the water looked in the setting sun.

So Kyla

11Jun08

It’s been a while since Kyla’s said hello. This image of her is my absolute favorite.

Because it is so Kyla.

Every time you go to pet her she slowly falls down onto the floor into belly-rub position. And she always sticks up her legs begging just to be touched.

I happen to capture it with the camera and love it. I even got a new credit card with this image on the whole card. I don’t use the card very much but I still pull it out to show people!

These two are the last of the Rescued sessions. They are quite the pair. Kirby, the beagle mix, loves to have his picture taken. Sadie, the fluffy black girl, not so much.

Look for my book, The Rescued, coming out in the next couple months. All profits will benefit the Edmond Animal Shelter.
